Personal branding means you as a person should be known for who you are.
You should stood out among the crowd for a particular niche/industry.
Generally people consider the reelers / youtubers as the solo creators, but that’s actually not the whole truth.
Some of the great examples of Personal Brands:

Generally we can divide the mainstream content into 4 categories.
- Video
- Image
- Text
- Audio
Video content consumption is too high among mobile users/new generation.
Image content is used mostly in advertising and content creation in print media and social media.
Text is highly used content among the top minds of the world, who care for words, who read a lot, who write and share their experiences.
Audio is used mostly in Radio, Podcast shows mostly interview/radio style. You can say that music is also a form of Audio content.
So if you see for any kind personal branding Content plays the vital role.

Video content
If you see the above chart You can see 50% is the video content. Out of which 35% is only Short-form videos like reels, shorts, TikTok videos are the highly consumed content. But do you remember any of those creators out of those 1000s of videos you’ve watched online. No Right?
That’s what i’m actually telling you.
Content / Personal branding through content is not a easy game. And if you are playing it solo, then this is again tough to manage, comaring this with a team.
Long form content are mostly YouTube videos/Podcasts/Movies. But these type of content require specialization in your field of study/profession to produce.
But comparing to the short form content, to build a highly successful personal brand online, I would recommend going for long form content, as it will create highly engaging audience, who will be there for you anytime online!
Yes, you heard it right. For digital branding, online branding/growth/success YouTube / long form videos will help you create a highly trustworthy personal brand.
Image Content

Coming to the next big content type, the images. around 15% market share. But how? See everyday posters on Print media, social media, internet, articles, search, twitter, Instagram, hoardings, banners, flexes, cards are all images. And they just be there and are being from there since ages in the form of statues, cave carvings, rock cuttings, architectures etc.
And images will be there for next coming centuries. No doubt delivering messages/content through impactful, short, crisp and to the point storytelling through images and graphics will be remain as a highly in demand content /skill ever in the coming future.
Text based content
The next 10% of market share belongs to the individuals like me who create text-based content.

The big doubt always arise is who read bro? who read today? who read books? No. It’s not books always!
People generally try to justify what little world they know from. But the reality is bit different. In today’s cluttered digital world, the esteem/cream lives in silence. The muted luxury is the new trend. The silence luxury has been grabbing a big chunk of the market, in the same way people who want to stay away from the noise, live in the text to get what they need in their life for growth, decluttering from every kind of noise pluggins, ads, shocking genrational changes, instant second mood swings, algorithms etc.
See the text based content is not book always. It’s articles, blogs, newsletters, ai generated content, website content along with the books.
If you see the above chart AI generated content, online articles like this article and social media post texts like captions/comments cover around 60% of the market, so you can imagine how the big is the consumption basically. And if you see the books/print it’s basically 8% only.
After the invention of AI models like Chat GPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity written/text content consumption has been skyrocketed among educated /professional human beings, who use the text to better their everyday life. Some use the text to make better products like websites and apps, some use the text for deep research, some use it for personal betterment.
As I always believe that discussions, one on one conversations create new paths of innovation, the same way, discussions, and chats with AI based chatbots, give people many other ways for excellence and ideas.
Audio content

Today in 2025, Music and podcasts/audio books or stories cover around 85% of market share!
Isn’t it amazing and strange? Have we ever tried to understand this market? Do we even know what is the revenue in numbers? How much music companies/podcast channels earn?
So for personal branding, there’s a huge potential, but it’s just that which channel you choose.
It could be Video for bigger reach and wide popularity, Image for digital storytelling/professional growth in careers like design, art, photography etc.
It could be text for growth as a industry leader, thinker, entrepreneur. It could be Audio as storyteller, podcaster, musician, singer. So, choose your goal.
Choose your niche. and focus on one content stream/medium.
Because the bigger focus the Better!

Ad campaigns for personal branding
As a digital marketer, and online personal branding professional, I’ll give example of online investments only, like making ads on LinkedIn, Meta, YouTube etc.
But bro, if you are not Ambani’s, or Adanis, I would recommend going slow, steady; working on organic content growth, but to stay away from ads if you want to build a truly big personal brand. Yes, if it’s a corporate then you must invest.
Because instant visibility will make you crazy inside. Your decision making and creativity will be reduced. For bigger goal, agility, step by step, system and process-based journey is always recommended.
What I feel the most is that you need to know your goal inside out, you need to know your niche and industry inside out, you need to know your target audience inside out to be the game changer and build a solid personal brand.
So stay away from ads for personal branding.
Create less, impact more
You learnt about content strategy, know your audience and goal, but it doesn’t mean that you just go all in and start shooting like a machine gun, No. It’s a long-term journey from 0 to infinity. There’s no particular end point here like a marathon.
It’s a journey till the end of your life. It’s just that how you live it. It’s your personality that you put in. You can’t fake here. You can’t act like an actor.
You’re what you are, but you can’t put everything online, post with a pinch of salt. Don’t become a vlogger.
I think Personal Branding much more valuable than a corporate business. There’re many ifs and buts. In the business your end motive is to sell more and close big. but in Personal branding, there’s no such thing.
It’s just being truly you.
