  • The India Stack

    The India Stack

I’ve seen that the best innovation brought by the Government of India in the recent decade is the India Stack. The innovative technology environment that brings everything under one umbrella.

IndiaStack is helping our country become the most developed country that can manage Identity, Data and payments in real-time seamlessly with e-Auth, e-Sign, e-KYC, QR, Digilocker, UPI & e-Aadhar etc.

I had heard about Visa and Mastercard and how they play as intermediaries between banks and users to process the transaction. But after knowing about NPCI, it blew my mind. It’s such a great innovation in the fintech world in India through UPI which is leading our country’s payment infrastructure, a non-profit organisation owned and operated by banks, with up to 200+ banks connected to this network as of today.

The Jio revolution and smartphone boom have led to the growth of digital payment numbers in this country significantly.

Now coming to the last piece of the puzzle Data, Seminal pieces of legislation like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, Open Banking in the UK, and the California Consumer Privacy Bill in the United States have sought to empower individual citizens with agency and control over their personal data. DEPA (Data empowerment and protection architecture) represents India’s attempt at creating a secure consent-based data-sharing framework’ to accelerate the financial inclusion of its citizens.

The three main pillars of DEPA are:

    1. 1. A landmark Personal Data Protection Bill which, for the first time ever, gives Indian citizens a number of rights pertaining to their data.
    2. An electronic (QR) consent artefact, which establishes a standardised and programmable digital template for capturing user consent to share their personal data with third parties
    3. A new category of regulated entities is known as ‘consent managers’ (in the Financial Services sector these will be known as Account Aggregators). These AA’s are tasked with playing the role of traffic cops in a typical data value chain. They provide an interface to facilitate the ‘easy sharing and consumption of data from various entities with user consent’.

    Open Networks:

the driving vision of India Stack is of open networks. The idea behind open networks is to establish a level playing field for members of a digital ecosystem.

As of now, there are two open network systems are there in India:

    • OCEN – India’s Open Credit Enablement Network – the flow of credit between borrowers, lenders, and credit distributors is codified under a common set of standards. it  supports the easy transmission of credit to consumers and businesses
    • National Digital Health Mission – An open network for consumers to securely share their health data with an ecosystem of healthcare apps and providers.

    FAQs

Who owns and maintains India Stack?

India Stack is the name used to describe a collection of disparate technology products and frameworks. The components of this collection are owned and maintained by different agencies. Aadhaar products such as e-auth and e-KYC are owned by the Unique ID Authority of India.

eSign is a technology specification which is maintained by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Digilocker is owned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

UPI is owned by the National Payments Corporation of India.

The Account Aggregator framework is regulated by RBI and its technology standards and owned by ReBIT.

Can India stack be applied in other countries?

The principles, technologies, and functionality of India Stack can be applied in any country. None of the systems that comprise India Stack require any proprietary technology or intellectual property that would preclude their implementation in any other country.

How can interested individuals get involved in India Stack?

Individuals interested in contributing to or working on India Stack may volunteer with iSPIRT, a non-profit think tank that champions digital public goods and maintains this website. More information may be found at ispirt.in.

How can you start building on India Stack?

The answer to this question depends on which component of India Stack is of interest. Depending on the answer, the relevant government agency or institution owning that particular product will be able to provide access to APIs, sandboxes, and other pieces needed to start building. Alternatively, interested parties may elect to use the APIs are offered by intermediaries. Popular intermediaries offering APIs and sandboxes on top of India Stack products include Digio, Karza, Signzy, OnGrid and many others.

  • Narayan Murthy’s 70-Hour Work Week, Is it practically possible?

Narayan Murthy’s 70-Hour Work Week, Is it practically possible?

I totally agree with Mr Murthy, Even I think that 70 Hours is very little.

I want to put it this way.

According to me, work hours are not that you work for a salary in any organisation. He meant that you have to work harder and strive for the growth of the country.

It can be anything from learning new skills to exploring new dynamics of your work to networking, to putting effort to be the best in your industry not just for a particular 9-hour work schedule, it’s a continuous process.

Every big achiever has given their best and a lot of effort to come to the place that they have achieved till today.

Personally, I work around 84 hours a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. I work for myself, I work for my personal growth, which is proportionally related to the growth of our country.

Let me share my schedule here, in the 24 hours, I give strict 8 hours for my sleep, which is necessary, for my mental and physical health.

As a freelancer, I wake up at 5, and after having a bath, meditation, breakfast and all, at 7 I begin my work. till 1 I do my work along with my office work, then I go to lunch till 2. My professional work for the company I work for ends at 5 or 6, it depends upon the workload.

After that I take a rest of 1 hour to go out, or chill etc, and then I eat my dinner at 7, and then I sit for my work till 9, then I go to bed.

So if we make a sum of all this I work around12 hours a day, i.e 84 hours a week including Saturday and Sunday.

Let’s read other successful leader’s opinions on this controversy…

  • Design Matters!

    Design Matters!

Yes, it’s pretty obvious that Design matters, and plays a great role in the success of any business, from Small to Large, all kinds of businesses.

We see designs everywhere in our daily lives. We saw them on the signages of stores, on the business cards, on the packaging bags and materials, logos, websites, social media, uniforms etc etc, the list is long.

I know there are multiple reasons for the failure of a business, but yes, bad design is also a major reason among them. There are two ways we have to look into it, and why it doesn’t work out?

    • The major intervention of the client having no sense of Design.
    • Hiring a designer or agency who has very narrow knowledge of design and has very little experience in branding or brand building.

So, let’s understand the importance of the first point how a client destroys a design decision for his or her company, by rejecting the good ones and accepting something that may not get the attention of the customers.

    2
Image A (The Concept accepted by the client)
    1
Image B (The concept given by the designer.)

So if we go through the above images, we will find that, in Image B the designer was pretty clear on messaging to make it more visually clear making the subject and CTA clear with different hierarchies and different colours as well with modern colours allying with the brand colours, images representing the brand and subject of the flyer, it’s also showing the Plus (+) in the middle which represents the medical emotion.

But to my surprise, Image A was finalized by the client. Yes, it happens, but not all the time. Clients who are very serious about the messaging and branding are pretty clear about it.

Let’s go through point B. that when a designer or agency makes things worse.

I know there is no need to say which one is good and which one is bad, This too happens as well. Their customer’s perspective changes about this business.

Please don’t be a fool, make a good choice. Be a brand. Conquer the market.

  • He changed my life!

    He changed my life!

He is Shaik Imran, my boss, and founder of Digiframe Marketing Solutions Private Limited, a digital marketing company based in Guntur, India.

He came into my life in 2020. He hired me as a graphic designer then but he gave me wings and freedom to explore and broaden my skillset through various tasks and challenges.

Now I can design websites, manage social media, run online ads, deal with clients, edit videos, and a lot more. These are all just because of him.

It’s been almost three years working with him, but the time has come to say goodbye to him. This end of October is my last working day with Digiframe, it’s been a roller coaster ride, with a lot of ups and downs, but I learned a lot. I taught myself a lot during this period.

Even though I started my own agency while working in this organisation, he supported that. This was a two-person organisation. Just he and me. He brings the clients, I fulfil the work. It was an exciting journey till November 2022, and then in December, he had to leave to abroad for education purposes. Then I became alone here, dealing with everything, and getting depression-like situations.

Although I’m very good with money, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I fell into the trap of debt, which is a big amount for me. But somehow he still supported me from abroad and paid my salary on time. Although we fought a lot of times, he used to sort them out.

After a long notice period of 4 months, finally, October 31st is going to be my last working day here at Digiframe.

I have decided to go solo and work less. I want to do quality work, focusing more on health, family, and balanced life. Even if I get no freelance opportunities I am ready to start a remote job with a large company to understand the work culture and the processes and systems. it would be a lot more helpful and will be added as a big milestone for my profile and portfolio.

Again Imran sir, thanks a lot for giving me this opportunity, I’m really grateful for your continuous support throughout the journey, it means a lot.

    Yours sincerely, Kailash Chandra Sahu.
